Tell Your Story: A Storytelling Craft Workshop and Showcase at Bethany Arts Community

Storytelling encompasses every person on the planet, no matter your background, field of study, or walk of life. Join writer and storyteller Kona Morris (The Moth, PBS’s Stories From The Stage, RISK!) for a special 2-day workshop that will guide you through the process of composing and structuring your stories for any audience. From job interviews to wedding speeches, it is important to feel confident to share your stories because YOUR STORY MATTERS. Learn how to craft your own life experiences into a polished, first-person narrative that you can share with family, friends, and at storytelling events. Open to all experience levels!

Workshop registration includes the opportunity to perform at our Storyteller Showcase on September 17, where you can invite your family and friends!

Solo Performance: Autobiographical Storytelling at Pasadena Playhouse

Your life is filled with stories worth telling. Join writer and storyteller Kona Morris (The Moth, PBS’s Stories From The Stage, RISK!) for a 4 session Zoom workshop exploring the art of autobiographical solo performance. Through guided writing, storytelling exercises, and performance techniques, you’ll transform your personal experiences into a compelling first-person narrative designed to be shared with an audience.

Whether you’re interested in performing on stage, preparing for a speaking engagement, or simply discovering new ways to express your unique voice, you’ll learn how to structure, refine, and confidently deliver your story. Open to all experience levels.

Since 1973, the National Storytelling Festival has been the premier storytelling event in the United States, with more than 11,000 people in attendance each year. The Exchange Place Stage is a specially curated, invite-only showcase featuring the six most promising new storytellers in the country. It is a revered Festival tradition, and one not to miss.

The 2026 Exchange Place Stage lineup is: Jane Dorfman, Naomi Faw, Yasu Ishida, Errol McLendon, Rajesh Mirchandani, and Kona Morris.

Everyone has a story. But not everyone knows how to tell it well. And it's all in the telling. But first you need to find, shape, and craft your story. Join educator and storyteller Kona Morris (The Moth, PBS’s Stories From The Stage, RISK!) for a workshop that will guide you through the process of composing and structuring your stories for any audience. From job interviews to introducing yourself to new friends, it is important to shape, structure, and feel confident to share your stories because YOUR STORY MATTERS.

Participants will learn how to craft their own life experiences into a first-person narrative that they can share with anyone. By the end of the workshop, they will have a polished story, a long list of others to work on, and the inspiration, skills, and confidence to share them.
